| | | Club Challenge / | | Hazel Kitts | "Book Club" - You are challenged to design a quilt that is inspired by a book you have read (your challenger assumes you read something other than Quilter's Newsletter and Quilt books). Such books include, but are not limited to: Bible Stories (Example: Noah's Ark), Children's Books (Example: Velveteen Rabbit), Popular Novels (Example: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), Books used for movie scripts (Example: Star Wars). Etc., Etc., Etc.,
The design you develop can be literal or figurative: Example: "Star Wars" A literal interpretation might be a quilt featuring a space ship or an appliqued Chewbacca; a figurative interpretation might be a top pieced with 'conflicting' star blocks (get it...star wars).
The final product must be a sandwich (top, batting, back), quilted (hand, machine, tacked or tied), and bound. A wall-hanging size is preferred due to the limited display area...but if you have a fire in your belly to make it a bed size quilt, have at it. Hanging sleeves are not necessary.
The finished quilt is due May 20, 2011 at the spring luncheon.
